Some of the following scholarship opportunities ask for the document to be returned to the Student Services Department.  In order to submit you have the following options:                             - email all documents to

with either option, Mrs. Young will ensure that they will be submitted to the applicable scholarship program. Please include your name, scholarship you are applying for, and contact information.

up to $48,000 Hagen Scholarship

The Hagen Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, designated to provide each recipient with the opportunity to graduate college debt-free. Hagen Scholarship recipients are high achieving, self-motivated students who will require substantial financial assistance to attend college. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.75 and provide proof of employment of at least 240 hours prior to the start of their college year.

11/30/2020  $500 Drivers Ed Initiative Award

National Driving and Traffic School is proud to announce there 2020 Scholarship opportunity, entitled "in the Driver's Seat." The topic of this year's essay submissions deal with the serious implications of being a driver. This scholarship seeks to reward student for their submission of dealing with the importance of being a safe and educated driver. The application is handled in essay format. To apply, submit and essay of less than 500 words on addressing:
  • What is the importance of drivers education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving?
  • What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?
  • Have you ever had an experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friend or family members driving irresponsibly?
  • What steps can you take to be a better and safer drier as well as help others become safer on the road?

 12/1/2020 $1,000 Lamber-Goodnow Injury Law Team Education Scholarships

The Lamber-Goodnow Injury Law Team awards several academic scholarship to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in a range of programs and schools. Winners also get a free, one-hour consult with a college admission counseling firm that can help show winners who to get into a top college. Lamber-Goodnow offers the following scholarships:
  • College Scholarship- two scholarships awarded to innovative and highly creative high school and college students who are creative thinkers and problem solvers. Requirements: 500-750 word essay, GPA of 2.8, transcript, proof of school enrollment, resume (optional)
  • Nursing Scholarship- one scholarship. Requirements: 500-750 word essay, transcript, proof of school enrollment, resume (optional)
  • Law School Scholarship- one scholarship. Requirements: 500-750 word essay
  • Medical School Scholarship- one scholarship. Requirements: 500-750 word essay, transcript, proof of school enrollment, resume (optional)
  • Physical Therapist/Occupational Therapist Scholarship- one scholarship. Requirements: 500-750 word essay, transcript, proof of school enrollment, resume (optional)

12/1/2020  $2,000 renewable Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Future Physics Teachers

The AAPT Bard of Directors offers scholarships for future high school physics teachers. These scholarships, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, are available to all US Seniors.

 12/1/2020 $3,200-$25,000 National Honor Society Scholarship

Eligible high school seniors graduating with the class of 2021 that are an active NHS member in good standing who are planning on enrolling at a college or university in the fall.

12/2/2020  $10,000 National Space Club Scholarship

Seniors interested in pursuing a career in the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) fields are encouraged to apply for the 2021 National Space Club and Foundation Keynote Scholarship. Preference will be given to those with space related interests.

 12/31/2020 $1,000 Wealth Wise Scholarship Wealth Wise Scholarship is open to US undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in the finance industry. This scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit and submission of a short essay. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required.

1/5/2021  TBD Barron County Department of Land Services- Environmental Speaking Contest

Students who are passionate about environmental issues and enjoy public speaking are encouraged to enter this contest. The contest will be held virtually via Google Classroom during the school day on January 18th, 2021. Interested students should see Mrs. Young in student services by January 5th, 2021 to sign up.

Posters with the theme "Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities" will be judged in multiple divisions based on subject matter for awards.

 1/15/2021 TBD The Foundation of the Wisconsin Automobile & Truck Dealers Association

Students that are interested in attending a Wisconsin Technical College for Automotive, Diesel, Auto Collision, or Motorcycle programs. Tuition amounts vary and can be up to full tuition. Snap-On Tool set may be awarded independently or in conjunction with tuition awards. No FAFSA or income information is required to apply for this scholarship.

1/31/2021  $4,000  Trytten Scholarship

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point awards seniors intending on majoring in Chemistry or Biochemistry at UWSP. Students must have a GPA of 3.50.

The Legacy Awards program provides $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members.

2/6/2021  $500  Elks- US Constitution

The Wisconsin Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Sponsors a US Constitution scholarship contest to promote knowledge of the US Constitution.  Awards are given to high school seniors based on a written examination. The test will be given Sunday, February 7th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rice Lake Lodge #1441 and the state test will be March 21st, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Each student with the highest score at each lodge will receive a $500 scholarship and qualify to take the state test for a possible increased amount of scholarship.

 3/1/2021 $1,000 WESTconsin Credit Union

WESTconsin Credit Union is offering up to fifteen $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The goal is to award one scholarship to each community served by a WESTconsin office. Applicants must have been a WESTconsin Credit Union member by April 30th prior to their senior year of high school and must have a GPA of at least 2.5.

The WMEF offers one $2,000 scholarship opportunity for a Wisconsin high school senior who plans to major in mathematics education or to have a mathematics concentration at the elementary or middle level.

3/1/2021  $5,000 American Legion- Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members

Candidates shall be/have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary. They need to have held membership for the past three consecutive years, and must be a current paid member with a 3.0 GPA.

 3/1/2021 $5,000 American Legion- Children of Warriors National Presidents' Scholarship

Candidates shall be daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, or great-grandsons of veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941. Applicants must also complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community during their high school career.

Applicants who are a child, grandchild, great-grandchild, stepchild, step grandchild, step great-grandchild of an honorably discharged American Veteran that has a GPA of 3.5 is eligible for various scholarships.

This year Barron Electric is proud to sponsor two seniors who have parents or guardians that are Barron Electric Cooperative members. Preferred applicants are students who rank in the top 6-25% of their graduating class. Mary Roelli Hilfiker Scholarship

Mary Hilfiker was born in Rice Lake, WI and graduated in 1963. She went on to her post secondary education at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. In honor of her and her parents, Hulda and Ernest, who valued education she has established a scholarship for Seniors looking to continue in the field of STEM, nursing, or education. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and ACT or similar testing of 24 or higher.
