Requesting Courses for Next Year

Choosing a Career Path 
Students at Rice Lake High School have many resources available to guide them in choosing one or more career paths suited to their abilities and interests 

  • Message from the Principal about Career readiness at RLHS
  • Starting in Freshmen Successcounselors and teachers have students explore post-secondary options and develop a 4-year high school plan
  • In the sophomore year, students and parents attend sophomore conferences with their counselor to review their Academic and Career Plan and adjust the 4-year plan if needed
  • Juniors will once again meet with their counselor to discuss post-secondary planning
  • Seniors will participate in a senior meeting with counselors to review material submissions for post-secondary plans
  • Academic and Career Plan (ACP):  Each year, students will add requirements to showcase their individual strengths and skills.  This will also be an opportunity for all students to re-evaluate post-secondary plans and make necessary adjustments.

Requesting Courses for Next Year
Each January, students refine and submit their course requests for the following school year, based on their 4 year plan using the following steps:      

All courses, including Career and Technical Education Courses, are available without discrimination based on sex, race, color, national origin, or disability.

January 9th  Day one of 8th grade scheduling information during math class @ RLMS
January 11th  Day two of 8th grade scheduling information during math class @ RLMS
January 12th  Day one of 8th grade scheduling information at St. Joe’s
January 17th  Day two of 8th grade scheduling information at St. Joe’s

 

 9th - 11th Grade Students and Parents
January 2nd  Course request information reviewed during homeroom
January 8th All grades enter course requests in the computer during homeroom
